Dixie® donates $10,000 to Jackson Fire Department to support local first responders
JACKSON, Tenn., November 13, 2024 – Dixie®, a Georgia-Pacific consumer brand, has donated $10,000 to the Jackson Fire Department, providing funds to enhance equipment and training for emergency response teams. This contribution is part of Georgia-Pacific’s Bucket Brigade program, an initiative designed to provide essential funding to fire departments across the country.
“Every day, local firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and neighborhoods,” said Mike Cook, Plant director of Jackson’s Dixie facility. “As we continue to strive to become a preferred partner in the Jackson community, we feel honored to contribute to the Jackson Fire Department and support their dedication to keeping our community safe.”
Georgia-Pacific launched the Bucket Brigade program to address the needs of fire departments nationwide, many of which operate with limited funding. Many believe that fire departments are funded entirely by government sources when around two-thirds of U.S. fire departments are staffed by volunteer firefighters who rely heavily on community support. The Bucket Brigade program aims to ease this burden by donating funds to help departments purchase essential equipment and improve training resources for their teams.
Fire Chief Don Friddle expressed his thanks for the contribution. "On behalf of the Jackson Fire Department, I extend my deepest gratitude to Dixie for their generous donation. Their support strengthens our commitment to protecting and serving our community by ensuring our firefighters have access to vital resources and equipment. This partnership highlights Dixie’s dedication to public safety and community well-being, and we are truly grateful for their trust and support. Together, we are building a safer, stronger Jackson."
Dixie® aims to make a meaningful impact in Jackson and will continue to invest in initiatives that uplift and protect the communities they proudly call home.
